Ducks to Launch "Movember" in D.C. Tonight

George Parros (host), Teemu Selanne, Ryan Getzlaf, Saku Koivu, Corey Perry and several other members of the Anaheim Ducks will get a clean shave at The Art of Shaving in Washington D.C. (address below) in support of “Movember” tonight (Oct. 31).

The Ducks are in Washington D.C. today in advance of Tuesday’s game against the Capitals. “Movember” is an annual charity event during the month of November where men grow moustaches to raise awareness for men’s health issues, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

ANAHEIM, Calif. –The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled center Nick Bonino from the Syracuse Crunch, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). In addition, the Ducks have reassigned left wing Jean-Francois Jacques to Syracuse. Bonino, 23 (4/20/88), scored a team-leading 2-9=11 points with a +4 rating in nine games with Syracuse this season.

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reassigned left wing Jean-Francois Jacques to the Syracuse Crunch, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Jacques, 26 (4/29/85), has appeared in four contests with Syracuse this season, collecting one assist (0-1=1) with two penalty minutes (PIM) and an even plus/minus rating. The 6-4, 220-pound winger was recalled by Anaheim on Oct. 23 but did not make an NHL appearance prior to today’s reassignment. Signed by Anaheim as a free agent on July 6, Jacques was originally assigned to Syracuse on Sept. 29.

A native of Montreal, Quebec, Jacques appeared in 51 games for the Edmonton Oilers in 2010-11, collecting 4-1=5 points with 63 PIM. He tied a career high in goals and established a personal best in appearances during his sixth season with Edmonton. In addition, Jacques ranked fifth on the Oilers with 111 hits. He also appeared in four AHL games with Oklahoma City last season, recording one goal (1-0=1) with 15 PIM.

Selected by Edmonton in the second round (68th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Jacques has scored 9-8=17 points with 185 PIM in 160 career NHL games. He made his professional debut with the Edmonton Roadrunners (AHL) in 2004-05 and has since appeared in 154 career AHL games, earning 47-56=103 points with 282 PIM.

Patrick Maroon Called Up to Anaheim

I just received this puts release from the Ducks:
–The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled left wing Patrick Maroon from the Syracuse Crunch, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). Maroon, 23 (4/23/88), appeared in six games with Syracuse this season, collecting 4-4=8 points with a +6 rating and 15 penalty minutes (PIM). At the time of his recall, Maroon ranked tied for fourth among AHL leaders in plus/minus and tied for 13th in goals. He was originally recalled by Anaheim on Oct. 16 but did not appear in a game with the NHL club before being reassigned to Syracuse on Oct. 18. Acquired from Philadelphia with David Laliberte in exchange for Danny Syvret and Rob Bordson on Nov. 21, 2010, Maroon scored one goal in two preseason games with Anaheim last month. Selected by Philadelphia in the sixth round (161st overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Maroon has appeared in 220 AHL games with Philadelphia (2007-09), Adirondack (2009-11) and Syracuse (2010-11), scoring 64-98=162 with 300 PIM. The St. Louis, MO native has also appeared in four career Calder Cup Playoff games with the Phantoms, earning 1-2=3 points with 13 PIM.

Ducks Announce 2011-2012 Regular Season Schedule

Ducks Open 19th NHL Year in Europe as part of the 2011 Compuware NHL Premiere;

Anaheim Home Opener Slated for Oct. 14 vs. Pacific Division rival San Jose

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The National Hockey League (NHL) today announced the complete regular season schedule for the 2011-12 NHL campaign. The Ducks will open their 19th year in the NHL as one of four teams participating in the 2011 Compuware NHL Premiere in Helsinki, Finland and Stockholm, Sweden. Anaheim begins the season against the Buffalo Sabres on Friday, Oct. 7 at Hartwall Arena in Helsinki before moving to Stockholm to play the New York Rangers on Saturday, Oct. 8 at Ericsson Globe Arena.

Following the 2011 Compuware NHL Premiere, the Ducks will return to the U.S. to host the Pacific Division rival San Jose Sharks in their 2011-12 Home Opener on Friday, Oct. 14 at Honda Center (7:05 p.m.). Anaheim’s 2011-12 regular season schedule includes 82 games in total, 40 at Honda Center, 40 on the road in North American venues and two in Europe. For the fourth consecutive season, the Ducks will play six games against Pacific Division opponents (24 games total), four games against each non-divisional Western Conference team (40 games), and 18 contests against Eastern Conference opponents. Anaheim will play each NHL team at least once in 2011-12, including the newly-relocated Winnipeg franchise on Saturday, Dec. 17 at the MTS Centre.

Highlights from the home schedule include visits from the Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins on Sunday, Mar. 25 (5:05 p.m.), Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday, Nov. 27 (5:05 p.m.), Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday, Nov. 30 (7:05 p.m.), and Philadelphia Flyers on Friday, Dec. 2 (7:05 p.m.). The Ducks will also host the Chicago Blackhawks for their annual day-after Thanksgiving game on Friday, Nov. 25 and the Colorado Avalanche for the second consecutive New Year’s Eve game at Honda Center on Saturday, Dec. 31 (5:05 p.m.). The Ducks will play home and road games versus the Sabres, Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes, and take on every other Eastern Conference team once. Other Eastern Conference teams to visit Anaheim in 2011-12 include the New York Islanders (Jan. 6) and Ottawa Senators (Jan. 21). Anaheim will face its Southern California rival Los Angeles Kings at Honda Center on Thurs., Nov. 17 (7:05 p.m.), Tues., Dec. 6 (7:05 p.m.) and Fri., Mar. 16 (7:05 p.m.)

The Ducks will host nine Friday contests, two Saturday games and 12 Sunday contests in 2011-12. November and March will serve as the busiest months of the season at Honda Center, with eight games scheduled in each month. In addition, there are four games scheduled for October, six for December and February, seven for January, and one for April. Anaheim will have a pair of season-long six-game homestands, including Nov. 25-Dec. 6 and Dec. 29-Jan. 10.  The Ducks will compete in 12 sets of back-to-back games this season, three fewer than 2010-11 and five fewer than 2009-10.

Individual regular season tickets for all Ducks games at Honda Center will go on sale in September. Anaheim Ducks Announce 2011-2012 Pre-Season Schedule

The Anaheim Ducks today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club’s 2011 preseason schedule. The Ducks will compete in seven preseason contests before the start of the club’s 2011-12 regular season campaign in October.

The Ducks will open the 2011 preseason schedule with back-to-back contests at Honda Center, taking on the Phoenix Coyotes on Sept. 20 (7:05 p.m.) and San Jose Sharks on Sept. 21 (7:05 p.m.). The club will participate in home-and-home exhibition contests against San Jose, Vancouver and Los Angeles, and face Phoenix once in preseason competition. Following three consecutive road games in San Jose, Vancouver and Los Angeles from Sept. 23-25, the Ducks will wrap up their exhibition schedule with home games on Sept. 28 vs. Vancouver (7:05 p.m.) and Sept. 30 vs. Los Angeles (7:05 p.m.).

Individual tickets for preseason games at Honda Center will go on sale at a later date. When the NHL announced that the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoff series between the Anaheim Ducks and the Nashville Predators would be televised on TSN, I was worried. But, I have since learned that the Ducks will announce the local station line-up soon. But, being impatient by nature, I looked it up and found the listing at Fox Sports West. Check it out here.

Lubo! The NHL's Top D-Man for 2010-2011?

The James Norris Memorial Trophy is an annual award given to the defense player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position. The winner is selected in a poll of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association at the end of the regular season. Chicago Blackhawks Defenseman Duncan Keith won the trophy last year.

This year, Lubomir Visnovsky looks like the top candidate, and we'll know soon. In the mean time, here's what he's done this year:

·In 2010-11, Lubomir Visnovsky led all NHL defensemen in scoring (68), assists (50) and points-per-game (.84). He also ranked second among defensemen in goals (18), tied for second in overtime goals (2) and third in game-winning goals (4). He is the second player in club history to lead all NHL defensemen in scoring (Scott Niedermayer did so in 2006-07).

·With an assist on Apr. 9 at Los Angeles, Visnovsky established a new career high for points in a season with 18-50=58 (he scored 17-50=67 in 2005-06 with Los Angeles). He matched his career high in goals on Apr. 4 vs. Dallas (18 - also 2006-07 with Los Angeles) and matched his career best in assists on Apr. 9 at Los Angeles (had 50 in 2005-06). In addition, Visnovsky’s +18 rating set a career best (finished the 2000-01 season a +16 with Los Angeles).

·Visnovsky set a new club record for goals by a defenseman in a single season with his 17th on Apr. 2 @ SJ (previous record was 16 by Fredrik Olausson in 1998-99). His 68 points in 2010-11 were one point shy of Scott Niedermayer’s franchise record for points by a defenseman in a single campaign (15-54=69 in 2006-07).

·Visnovsky completed the 2010-11 season with points in six of his last seven games (3-4=7), nine of 11 (4-7=11, +9) and 13 of 16 (6-11=17, +13).

* He became the first defenseman in Ducks history to record a hat trick on Mar. 4 vs. Dallas. He also scored the OT goal (second of the season, third career) with just 3.8 seconds left in the extra frame in the 4-3 win. Visnovsky’s 3-1=4 points that night were a career high and his hat trick marked the second of his career (also Nov. 2, 2005 with Los Angeles at Dallas). He was one of five NHL defensemen to score a hat trick this season (also Nicklas Lidstrom of Detroit, Zdeno Chara of Boston, P.K. Subban of Montreal and Ed Jovanovski of Phoenix).

* In March, Visnovsky earned 7-11=18 points with a +13 rating. He led all defensemen in goals and points. He also co-led all NHL players in plus/minus (Marc-Edouard Vlasic of San Jose was also +13).

* Visnovsky set a career high and tied the club record with a +5 rating in a 5-2 Ducks win, Mar. 9 vs. NYR.

* He had five goals over three games (5-2=7, +6 rating) from Mar. 4-9, becoming the first Ducks defenseman all-time to accomplish the feat.

Hart Trophy - Making the Case for Corey Perry

In 2010-11, Corey Perry led the league in goals (50) and was tied for the league lead in game-winning goals (11, also Alex Ovechkin). He ranked third in points (98), and tied for fifth in power play goals (14) and shorthanded goals (4). He also ranked second among all NHL forwards in ice time (22:18), which is also ranked first among all right wingers.

· Perry led the league in 2010-11 with 21 third period goals (no other player had more than 18 – San Jose’s Patrick Marleau), and was tops with 23 third period/OT goals (no other player had more than 21 – also Marleau). His 21 third period goals were also the most in Ducks history (Selanne had 19 in 1996-97) and the most by any Western Conference player since Jonathan Cheechoo (SJ) had 21 in 2005-06. No Western Conference player had MORE than 21 third period goals since the 1993-94 season (Pavel Bure of VAN (23), Brendan Shanahan of STL (23) & Brett Hull of STL (22)).

· 25 of Perry’s goals in 2010-11 tied the score or put the Ducks ahead (nine tied game, 16 put Ducks ahead/won game). Those 25 goals came in 22 different games, with the Ducks going 15-4-3 in those contests.

· Perry became the third player in franchise history to reach the 50-goal mark (Paul Kariya had 50 in 1995-96 & Teemu Selanne had 51 in 1996-97 and 52 in 1997-98). It also marked the most goals scored by a Duck since Selanne’s 52 in 1997-98. Perry completed the season with five more goals than anyone else in the NHL (Stamkos, 45). The last time a player in the Western Conference scored 50-or-more goals was Calgary’s Jarome Iginla in 2007-08 (50).

· With 20 games left, the Ducks were 32-25-5 with 69 points and ranked 11th in the Western Conference. At the time, Corey Perry had 31-36=67 points, and ranked sixth in the NHL in goals and tied for fifth in points. Over the last 20 games, Perry led the NHL in goals and points (19-12=31 with a +12), lifting the Ducks to a fourth-place place finish in the Western Conference. The Ducks went 15-5-0 over their last 20 games.

· Perry led the NHL in goals (25) and points (47) since the All-Star break. No one in the NHL had more than 21 goals (CGY’s Iginla) and 40 points (VAN’s D. Sedin) since that date. Perry helped the Ducks to a 19-10-1 record after the All-Star break.

· Perry also led the NHL in road goals with 28. The next-closest players were Vancouver’s Daniel Sedin and Tampa Bay’s Steven Stamkos (both with 24).

· His 50-48=98 points were the most by a Duck since 1997-98 when Selanne scored 47-60=107 and Kariya notched 39-62=101.

· His game-winner on Apr. 6 vs. San Jose, Perry established a new club record for game-winning goals with 11. Paul Kariya (1996-97) and Teemu Selanne (1997-98 and 2006-07) previously held the record with 10.

· On Mar. 9, Perry ranked sixth in the league in goals (31), 10 behind then league-leader Steven Stamkos (41). On Feb. 5, Perry was tied for eighth among NHL leaders with 25 goals, 14 behind league-leader Stamkos (39).

· Perry became the first player since 1996-97 to record 50-or-more goals and more than 100 penalty minutes in a single season (Keith Tkachuk scored 52 goals and amassed 228 PIM with Phoenix in 1996-97.

· Perry was named the NHL’s First Star of the Month for March on Apr. 1. He finished the month of March with 15 goals, becoming the fifth NHL player since January, 1997 to score 15 goals in a single month. The previous players to do so were Alexandre Burrows (January, 2010), Jaromir Jagr (March, 2001), Pavel Bure (March, 2001) and Joe Sakic (March, 2000). The last NHL player to score MORE than 15 was Mario Lemieux, who scored 17 goals in December, 1996. No other player has scored more than 15 goals in a single month since then. Perry also co-led the NHL (also Daniel Sedin) in scoring (21 points) and ranked first in game-winning goals (4). His 15 goals accounted for the highest goal-scoring month by a Ducks player in club history. Paul Kariya and Teemu Selanne previously shared the record (Kariya had 13 in January 2000 and Selanne recorded 13 in November 1997).

· In addition to his “First Star of the Month” recognition for March, Perry also received NHL “Stars of the Week” honors on four occasions this season: First Star of the Week on Apr. 4, Second Star of the Week on Mar. 28 and Third Star of the Week on both Mar. 14 and Feb. 7

· In his last 16 contests of the season, Perry scored 19-11=30 points with a +13 rating, seven multi-goal games, five game-winning goals, and two overtime goals. Of those 19 goals, eight occurred during the third period or overtime. Perry helped lead Anaheim to a 12-4-0 record in those 16 games. Perry also recorded 14-9=23 points with a +11 rating in his last 12 games of the season. He recorded a 10-game point streak from Mar. 19-Apr. 6 (14-8=22, +11), which was tied for the longest active streak in the NHL at the time (with NSH’s Kostitsyn).

· Perry has scored a career-high four shorthanded goals this season, establishing a new club record in the category (previously 3, set several times).

· He has three hat tricks this season, matching the club record for most hat tricks by a Ducks player in a single season (Selanne also had three in 1997-98): Dec. 12 vs. MIN: scored his first career hat trick as part of a career and franchise-tying five-point game (3-2=5). It was the second time in club history a player has scored a hat trick on the PP, at EV and SH (also P. Kariya, 1/10/97 vs. BUF). Also Feb. 5 @ COL: Had 3-0=3 points in a 3-0 shutout, becoming the first player in Ducks history to score ALL three of his team’s goals in a win. Perry also became the first player in team history to record a hat trick while scoring every goal in a shutout. He was just the fourth player to accomplish the feat in an NHL game over the last six seasons (also Philadelphia’s Mike Knuble, 2/2/08; Buffalo’s Thomas Vanek, 4/5/08; Columbus’ Rick Nash, 11/20/10; all in 3-0 wins). Lastly Apr. 6 vs. SJ: Perry reached the 50-goal plateau on his third goal of the game as part of a four-point night. In addition, Perry’s second goal served as the game-winner, establishing a new franchise record for most game-winning goals in a season (11).

· Perry scored back-to-back OT goals (first two of his career) on Mar. 19 at LA and Mar. 20 vs. CGY, becoming the first Ducks player to record OT goals in back-to-back games and the first in the NHL to do so since Todd Bertuzzi (DET) on Dec. 11-12, 2009.

· Perry became only the second Ducks player in club history to lead the NHL in goals. Teemu Selanne led the league outright with 47 in 1998-99 and shared the lead with Peter Bondra (52) in 1997-98.

· The Ducks have had two previous Hart Trophy finalists (MVP): Paul Kariya (1996-97) and Teemu Selanne (1997-98). No Ducks player has ever won the award. The only players on California-based teams to WIN the Hart are Wayne Gretzky (Los Angeles, 1988-89) and Joe Thornton (San Jose, 2005-06).

Ducks Beat San Jose 6-2 -- What a Night for Corey Perry!

Corey Perry became the third player in franchise history to reach the 50-goal mark (Paul Kariya had 50 goals in 1995-96 & Teemu Selanne had 51 goals in 1996-97 & 52 in 1997-98). It also marks the most goals scored by a Duck since Selanne’s 52 in 1997-98. Perry currently has six more goals than anyone else in the NHL (Stamkos, 44).

The last time a player in the Western Conference scored 50-or-more goals was Calgary’s Jarome Iginla in 2007-08 (50 goals).

Perry’s 50-47=97 points are the most by a Duck since 1997-98 when Teemu Selanne scored 47-60=107 and Paul Kariya collected 39-62=101.

Perry’s hat trick tonight was the third of his career (all in 2010-11). It marks just the second time in club history that a player had three hat tricks in one season (Teemu Selanne, three in 1997-98).

Perry’s 10-game point streak (14-8=22, +11) is tied for the longest current streak in the league (NSH’s Kostitsyn also currently has 10).

Perry’s four points (3-1=4) in tonight’s contest marks his third game with four-or-more points this season and fourth such game of his career. He also recorded his 200th NHL assist tonight.

PERRY, IGINLA AND ENROTH NAMED NHL 'THREE STARS' OF THE WEEK

NEW YORK (April 4, 2011) -- Anaheim Ducks right wing Corey Perry, Calgary Flames right wing Jarome Iginla and Buffalo Sabres goaltender Jhonas Enroth have been named the NHL's 'Three Stars' for the week ending Apr. 3.

FIRST STAR -- COREY PERRY, RW, ANAHEIM DUCKS

Perry, who led all scorers with eight points (three goals, five assists) in four games, has earned his fourth NHL 'Star' selection in the past four weeks. He was named First Star for the month of March and also garnered Second- and Third-Star weekly honors. Perry recorded points in each game last week, beginning with an assist in a 5-4 victory over the Colorado Avalanche Mar. 28. He recorded two goals and one assist in a 4-2 win over the Calgary Flames Mar. 30, notched two assists in a 4-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks Apr. 2 and tallied one goal and one assist in a 4-3 loss to the Dallas Stars Apr. 3. Perry leads the NHL in goals (47), is tied for second place in game-winning goals (10) and ranks third in points (47-46--93). He has an active nine-game scoring streak, during which he has tallied 18 points (11 goals, seven assists) and a +9 rating.

SECOND STAR -- JAROME IGINLA, RW, CALGARY FLAMES

Iginla recorded six points (three goals, three assists) in three games, highlighted by his NHL Milestone 1,000th career point, as the Flames won two of three starts. The Calgary captain tallied one goal and one assist in a 4-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks Mar. 30 and recorded two goals and one assist in a 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues Apr. 1. His second goal, the game-winner at 14:57 of the third period, was the 1,000th point of his NHL career, making him the 77th player in League history to reach the milestone. Iginla finished the week by notching one assist in a 2-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche Apr. 3. Iginla has played in each of Calgary's 80 games this season, ranking sixth among NHL scorers with 81 points (39 goals, 42 assists). He has scored at least 30 goals in each of the past 10 seasons.

THIRD STAR -- JHONAS ENROTH, G, BUFFALO SABRES

Pressed into service following an injury to starting goaltender Ryan Miller, Enroth bolstered the Sabres playoff drive by posting a 2-0-1 record, 1.94 goals-against average, .936 save percentage and one shutout in three appearances. Enroth began the week by stopping 23 shots for the first shutout of his NHL career in a 1-0 victory over the New York Rangers Mar. 30. He recorded 31 saves in a 5-4 overtime loss to the Washington Capitals Apr. 2 and made 35 stops in a 2-1 overtime victory over the Carolina Hurricanes Apr. 3. The 22-year-old Stockholm, Sweden native was recalled Mar. 4 from AHL Portland, where he posted a 20-17-2 record this season. The NHL rookie improved to 7-2-2 with Buffalo in 2010-11, sporting a 2.53 goals-against average and .915 save percentage.
