I have to be honest, I wasn't real optimistic about the Ducks chances last night against a Tampa Bay team that is ripping a hole through the NHL. But, I was pleasantly pleased with the team's performance.
Of course, just about any time Teemu Selanne touches a puck with his stick or boot, he's moments away from another milestone on an NHL All-Time List. The Finnish Flash delivered with a Power Play Goal and an Assist. He now moves into a tie with Al MacInnis for 33rd place on the all time points list.
The Lightning's Steven Stamkos is the real deal. He scored a highlight reel goal and continues to lead the lead in scoring. But the highlight for me was the 3rd period game-tying goal by Kyle Palmieri. He was just called up from the minor league Syracuse Crunch, and notched his 1st NHL goal in his first appearance. Sweet!
Overtime is always a nail-biter because of the "sudden death" element. About 2 and a half minutes in, with most of my nail's still intact, Ryan Getzlaf buries an amazing pass from Selanne to seal the 2 points.
Thanks, Duck boys, for restoring my optimism. See you Friday (versus Pittsburgh).
